![]() ![]() One other nice little feature whether you're using these old Macs as computers or monitors: they sold with remote controls so that you could use the iMacs as televisions. These things are pretty cheap as Apple Silicon Macs are the shiny new thing but I love keeping old Macs running. The 2009 is even usable as a computer for some operations, with 16 GB of RAM and an SSD. I have not tried a Zoom conference using this system. You also get a nice set of speakers on the iMac and audio is played through the MiniDisplayPort cable. The 2010 iMac runs cooler than the 2009 iMac - I guess that it has more efficient parts. I plan to remove the M1 mini from the cluster of machines as I prefer using the old iMacs to the M1 mini. The iMacs have high specs and I bought them for $600. My current setup has a Windows desktop, M1 mini 16/1, 2014 iMac ($5 iMac ($100). The iMac does get warm but my office is in an unheated basement so the heat it makes is actually useful. I've done this as well with a 2020 M1 mini 16/1 and a 2009 iMac 27. ![]()
